Tennis has 11 named MSC All-Academic
Shawnee State sees eight women and three men earn MSC’s academic honors
Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State men’s and women’s tennis had a combined 11 players named Mid-South Conference All-Academic for the 2017-18 school year.
The SSU women led the way with eight student-athletes named All-Academic for the season. Abby Brinkman, Rebecca Cinfio, Mykalley Detty, Michaela Garner, Adrianna Johnson, Jillian Kelly, Caleigh O’Neal and Kathleen Singer all earned the award. The eight Bears named All-Academic is a program high since Shawnee State joined the Mid-South Conference, with the previous high being seven in 2016.
Shawnee State’s men also had three players named All-Academic for 2017-18. Matthew Bryant, Rodney Spriggs and Chase Ward were all awarded the Mid-South Conference’s highest academic honor. The three Bears named All-Academic is also a program high, up from two earned last season in Shawnee State’s first year of competition.
To qualify for the award, student-athletes were required to be a sophomore at their institution, and have maintained a cumulative 3.25 GPA in their academic career.
Shawnee State men’s and women’s tennis kick off the Mid-South Conference tournament on Friday, April 20, with SSU’s women taking on Cumberlands (Ky.) at 9:00am, and the men playing Cumberland (Tenn.) at 3:00pm.
