Golf compete at Mid-South Spring Invitational
SSU’s men finish in ninth, women in seventh at Dale Hollow
Burkesville, Ky. – Shawnee State men’s and women’s golf were in action at the Mid-South Conference Spring Invitational, hosted at Dale Hollow State Park on Monday and Tuesday. SSU’s men finished ninth and the women finished seventh.
Jordan Tieman was SSU’s best finisher on the men’s side, finishing tied for 22nd overall by shooting 80-76 for a two-day score of 156, 12 shots over par. Steven Zimmerman, current Mid-South Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week, shot 82-79 for a two-day 161, tied for 34th overall. Shawnee State as a team finished the tournament with a two-day score of 650, 20 strokes back of eighth place Pikeville and 55 behind tournament champions Northwestern Ohio.
Holly Hart was Shawnee State’s best finisher on the women’s side. Hart shot 95-92 for a two-day score of 187, 43 strokes over par and good for 28th place. Taylor Boggs shot a two-day 188 to finish in 29th, only one stroke back of Hart, and Emily Hayes’ two-day 192 put her in 30th. Shawnee State finished 13 strokes behind Campbellsville, with Cumberlands (Ky.) winning the tournament.
Shawnee State men’s and women’s golf are back in action on April 14-15 at the Pikeville Spring Invitational.
