NB accident leaves one dead

On Friday, March 16th at 07:54hrs, NBPD Officers and NBFD Personnel were dispatched to a two vehicle crash within the intersection of Gallia Street and Taylor Avenue, which is located at the Walmart mall entrance. It was found that Donald Reynolds, age 80, of West Portsmouth, was driving east bound on Gallia Street in a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero and that he ran the red light at the intersect and crashed into a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado being operated by Everett McRoberts, age 74, of Wheelersburg, where McRoberts was coming off of Taylor Avenue onto
Gallia Street. Passengers in the Reynolds vehicle was a Bonnie Reynolds, age 80,
the wife of Donald Reynolds. The passenger in the McRoberts vehicle was a Cheryl McRoberts, age 73, the wife of Everett McRoberts. Speed was not a factor in this crash and it is believed visibility was limited from windshield glare cause by the early morning sunlight facing east bound traffic. Donald Reynolds was issued
a traffic citation for the red light violation. All occupants from both vehicles were transported to SOMC by Portsmouth
Ambulance for treatment and observation. Donald Reynolds and Everett and Cheryl McRoberts were treated and released from SOMC. Bonnie Reynolds was transported
to Grant Hospital in Columbus from SOMC, where she later passed away Friday evening from possible internal injuries from the crash. At this time NBPD would like to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Reynolds family and ask everyone to keep this family in their prayers.
