In celebration of Easter and new found faith, the Piketon Calvary Baptist Church Champions for God (C4G) youth group will be performing, “The King Has Come to Die,” a play filled with passion.
From singing, to dancing, to worshipping, the C4G youth group have spent around seven months dedicated to this play.
“These teenagers have worked several evenings after school, attending these practices because they are just so dedicated to God,” Pastor of Youth and Young Adults Dwayne Raines explained.
The cast of young stars includes:
Levi Bond as Disciple John,
Jacob Wente as King Caiaphas,
Adrianna Birkhimer as Servant Girl,
Angela Blanton as Annas,
Chase Causey as Lazarus,
Gavin Howard as Peter,
Colton Leeth as Simeon,
Aidan Locke as Jesus,
Rachel Riffle as Helena,
Erin Riffle as Angel,
Kayleah Woodruff as Martha,
and many other volunteer students in C4G.
While some of the students in the play have been a part of the church for most of their lives, many of them have just recently been saved.
“Most of the teenagers performing in this play have been saved within a year and a half. Some are completely new to faith, actually, as early as a few weeks,” Raines stated.
He explained that some of these students have completely redirected their lives to Christ, with full dedication to the church.
“The reasoning for this play is to spread the word of Jesus Christ through Pike and other surrounding counties. The students are very dedicated to this performance and want their friends and family to also find the joy of the gospel. We would like to invite all to come and witness the love of Christ.” Raines explained.
“The King Has Come to Die” will be performed at 7 p.m. March 30 at Calvary Baptist Church on 212 Indian Ridge in Piketon and then again on Easter Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. April 1. Then, at 10:45 a.m. on April 8, the group will visit First Baptist Church on 162 N Court Street in Grayson, Ky.
